Coming-up Rose & Miguel's wedding blog and a few more shout-outs (of which I didn't have pictures yet ;) ...

Chuppah, Palm Trees and Flowers!!

We have a few shout-outs to some brides which happened while we were busy decorating Adam y Perla and Allyson and Jason's respective October weddings (photos coming soon - I promise!)...

First, a big shout-out to Renee who tied the knot this past September 30th at the Dreams Riviera Maya resort! Renee chose the popular Palm Trees design in orange with white lettering and shake me tags :). I think they turned out quite tropical!

Second, a big shout-out to Judith's daughter, Elizabeth, who tied the knot with her groom in Massachusetts - a first for us! We don't have a picture of the papel picado in the actual chuppah, but I can't wait to see one :). I think it turned out beautifully with the dogwood branches and flowers...

Third, a shout-out to Adrienne who tied the knot with her groom at Dreams Puerto Vallarta - at the same time, no less, that Allyson & Jason tied the knot on the beach up north! Adrienne chose the second version of the Kate and I love the colors - very festive!

Don't chastise me, dear brides and coordinators - we've been super busy working on an upcoming wedding which is turning out AMAZING - but as a result, I'm horribly delinquent writing to you! A BIG shout out goes to Scott and Carrie who were married April 11th in Las Caletas!

INVITES

As a twist, both the bride and groom got into the maraca deciding action, as they chose which design they liked best. They did send us their invites which we loved and were excited to copy, but really wanted the Lacy Romance design which we have done before as an example.

We also did little name/date/location tags which Omar freehanded into the computer and I played around with to look just so! I'm pretty pleased with it, if I do say so myself!

As we have a slight lull in the action, I will be posting ideas again - I miss them too and I've been collecting things I've seen online just to share with you - just haven't had the time! So, I will do my best to make a big blog full of ideas to say "thank you" for checking-in even when I've been a bad blogger! Ya'all rock!!

Copper Lillies and near Talavera April Fools!

Hello dear brides and coordinators! A BIG SHOUT out goes to Jen who was married (by me, no less!) April 1st and to Megan who tied the knot April 3rd ... and nearly got an accidental belated April Fool's joke!

We met with Jen when she came down on an earlier trip - a real down-to-earth bride with an easy smile! She sent us her very own design board as an example of what she would like to see on her maracas.

After talking about it, we discussed with Jen that we were a little worried that the tone of copper she picked might not be the right tone on a maraca - so we switched the background color to ivory and the design to copper and this is how it turned out!

Jen also wanted a huppah - she had read the blog about huppahs written by Vallarta's very own Tamara of Incredible Weddings, and sent us pictures. The day we went to put her huppah up it was very very windy - so, in order for things not to flap around we needed to tie them down fairly well. This is the example and her huppah!

Talavera April Fools

Megan really liked the talavera example we had on created before for our photo shoot but we wanted to do something a little different. I asked Omar to create a different pattern but didn't like the look of it so I asked him to do something based on the talavera design example we had used before. I normally don't have time to send maraca photos to brides before I send them off, because we work right up to the due date. But this time I took a picture and sent it to Megan - only to figure out that the colors were wrong! Omar had mixed-up two of the orders!! Luckily, Megan caught the mistake (and was sweet enough to say she would accept them the way they were - but I would have none of that - her wedding colors were turquoise blue NOT turquoise green and that's a big difference!).

While this is not something I would ever like to happen again, I do think the added color gave a better definition to her maracas and they turned out better than they would have the first time around!

I've been working on some beautiful designs for an end of April/beg of May wedding and end of May wedding but I promise I do still have the design board I promised eons ago and will post that next week as we have a small break in the favor congo line!

A Maraca By Any Other Name...

I hope you are all getting your beauty rest as September winds Vallarta down before gearing back up for next season! I know I've mentioned before that we here at Mishka Designs don't just do an all-over design, but we also handle special favors (i.e. fans, picture frames, magnets, etc.), place cards/escort cards/table markers, etc. Well, Omar and I have a little treat for you - we came up with some ideas of example maracas to show you just a sample of what we are able to do to customize a common favor here in Vallarta to something truly special for your brides!!

PAISLEY

This first maraca was inspired off of a couple of brides I've designed for the in the past who really liked paisley and wanted it incorporated into their wedding - of course, this design can be modified to be darker, other colors, other style of paisley - the sky's the limit!

LACY ROMANCE

Inspired by Spanish lace, again this is just an example of what we can do while, at the same time, we can change the colors, change the flower style, whatever it is your bride (or you!) might want!

WHITE FLOWERS

Still in the floral theme, this maraca was more inspired from the frequent request of the color combination of orange and fuchsia. On any of these maracas, the bride and groom's name can be placed and date of wedding, or perhaps you would prefer to use the maracas as place markers and we can paint individual names on each one.

SEAHORSE

Inspired from that which Vallarta is famous for - the seahorse statue on the Malecon - there are many many different ways to paint a Seahorse and this is just one of them, with a myriad of color choices available.

TALAVERA

As we all know real Talavera is expensive but what a great favor! However, for the bride who likes the look of Talavera and might not be able to afford the real thing OR for a bride who just would love to have the look of Talavera in her maracas, here's a Talavera themed maraca. Again, Talavera has many different patterns, many different colors and this is just an example as any and all of them are possible!!

CALLA LILYS

Another common favorite, the calla lily, is represented in this image. We wanted to show a more "natural" look to the maraca so we choose a wooden maraca and burned the calla lily artwork into the maraca itself. I love this maraca! Again, any flower or design can be burned into a wooden maraca!

CLASSIC ROMANCE

Years ago we had a wedding where we utilized this profile image and it was really beautiful! This was Omar's favorite maraca, so I saved it for last - a male/female pair. Again, we can do any sort of graphic, any sort of idea with all different colors, depending on what your bride (or you!) is/are looking for!

MADE TO ORDER

As you all know by now, we aren't a cookie-cutter kindof company. So, everything we do is made to order. Even if your bride just knows she wants something in keeping with her wedding but doesn't know what she would like on the maraca, we do that too... we'll just ask a few questions to get a better feel, perhaps ask for some photos of the invites, save the dates or other material, and we can create something which would be perfect and in keeping with the event and will be a delightful surprise for the bride and groom and their guests!

Mid-month I'll be dealing with the color combination of blue and orange, filled with amazing ideas and eye-catching photos, so you won't want to miss it!
